Our graduates go on to work in health promotion, research, and policy in the government sector (including district localities formerly district health boards), primary health organisations non-government organisations, civil society, and academia.
Take a look at where some of our graduates have gone on the Meet Our Alumni page.
Here are several examples of how you might organise your electives to develop skills related to particular employment pathways.

In New Zealand, the New Zealand Psychologists Board administers the registration of psychologists under the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance (HPCA) Act 2003. Health Psychologists currently have to register under the General Scope of Practice.
Massey currently offers four supervised practice routes for people who wish to register as psychologists: (1) PGDipI/OPsych, (2) PGDipPsychPrac, (3) DClinPsych, and (4) MClinPsych.
The health psychology programme is standalone and does not directly lead to registration as a psychologist.
If your goal is to become a registered psychologist and you wish to incorporate the health psychology programme into your journey towards registration, we advise you to include the following courses as electives:
Professional Practice in Psychology (175.730,15 credits)
Clinical Psychology Assessment (175.782, 15 credits) or Assessment in Educational Psychology (256.754,15 credits)
175.783 Clinical Psychology Interventions (15 credits)
These courses are essential for gaining an understanding of professional practice, psychological assessment, and intervention, all of which are necessary for the Diploma in Psychological Practice.
Enrolling in all three courses mentioned above will fulfil the 120 credit requirement for taught courses, allowing you to take one less health psychology course.
(Please note that selection into these courses is based on GPA at the time of application. Priority for the clinical courses is given to students enrolled in the clinical program.)
Visit the Psychology Board website or contact them directly (info@nzph.org.nz).
